NYCB Vol. 10 No. 28 - Symphony in Three Movements

“Christopher d’Amboise and Wilhelmina Frankfurt were so extreme in their high jumps, with legs tucked under, that they seemed suspended in space in the first section. […] When Bart Cook and Heather Watts, followed by Kyra Nichols and Mr. Duell joined the first movement, ‘Symphony in Three Movements’ becomes a sci-fi version of Jerome Robbins’ ‘Interplay.’ The 1940’s flavor of a score composed during World War II is extended ever so abstractly in these three couples who seem to be doing the jitterbug of the future.”

—Anna Kisselgoff, New York Times, 1980
