"I was a sub drummer for ACL and it was my first professional gig. I was just out of college, and was studying at Drummers Collective in NYC with Hank Jaramillo who was one of the main drummers. He asked me if I would be interested in subbing, and I jumped at the opportunity, learned the book, and became a first call sub. I played the show a lot, probably a few times a week. I got to play with Donna when she came back. It was quite the honor.
"Towards the end, when regular drummer Dorian McGhee left, I played a lot, right up to closing where I was the drummer for the final week, except for the final show, which Hank had the honor to play. Father Alphonse was a fantastic conductor, full of vigor and intensity. After he left, Jerry conducted mainly, then Yolanda Segovia came in the last year or so… her energy brought a lot of revitalization to the orchestra."
