Pamela Sousa: “I had been taught the show early on by Clive (Clerk) Wilson, the dance captain on Broadway. This was before it had gotten so cut and dried. When Michael worked with me, we'd play. He allowed me certain liberties that came from me, because he trusted me. My Cassie was based, of course, on Donna, but had my "isms" in it, which I laugh at, because later on some of my work became the "set stuff." The dance was the dance. I would never deviate from the steps, but I did add certain attitude turns. Donna and I have different strengths. As time went on, Michael couldn't do that with all the girls taking over, so he set the tone of the show after the ‘ol' girls’ left.”
