“Glass Pieces is stunning, When it opens with 36 dancers in brightly colored practice clothes crisscrossing the stage in carefully planned patterns— all brilliantly set off against a graph-paper backcloth—the effect is both rich and uncluttered. From the start, Mr. Robbins takes off on several levels at once.”

About Glass Pieces.... I remember in the late 70s Philip Glass's music was being used all over the place by modern dance companies. The minimalism of the music fit with the abstract aesthetic of so many experimental pieces. I wondered if a major ballet choreographer would tackle his music.... and then came Glass Pieces and Robbins just nailed it. As soon as I saw it I knew this piece would live forever. Thank you for finding that great video.
