NYCB Vol. 19 No. 8- The Concert, Francisco Moncion

"An image I treasure is that of [Francisco] Moncion fluttering around like a demented butterfly with a cigar clamped between his teeth, like Broderick Crawford cast as The Queen of the May. Robbins's humor is brilliantly and specifically American..."
--Joseph H. Mazo, Women's Wear Daily, 1971

Moncion: "It's fun to do sometimes, but you have to really work yourself into the mood, break through the reticence. There's a lot of crazy jumping around, but one of the things Jerry said was, I don't want this to look like a caricature. This has to be danced, and danced in an attractive fashion—not like some Broadway hoofer who doesn't know how. That isn't what I want. I want clean line, clean steps, real steps.'"
