Fosse & Verdon Book No. 11 - Building a Fosse/Verdon Database

It was January 1, 2026 when I officially began gathering my resources and researching for this book. By June, 2026 I had amassed stories originating from:

73 interviews

35 Magazine articles

32 Newspaper articles

22 TV/radio interviews

17 books

10 oral histories

10 documentaries

7 panel discussions

(and a partridge in a pear tree)

That's 206 primary source documents that need to be organized and turned into transcripts. I spent nearly 2 months turning all of these different media into a single database on my computer. I can now search all the documents by year, by production/show, by the speaker/writer, and many other variables. I even created Chicago Style citations for every single source so that I don't have to do that down the road. It was a tedious process, but it helped me streamline my findings and I hope will make the next steps (writing the book!) easier.

Here's a little peak at a small portion of my database:

I have a question for you: Is there any topic that you love enough to spend this much time researching?
