"The 1,000 workmen who built the New York State Theater in Lincoln Center will be the first to enjoy its facilities when they attend the New York City Ballet's initial dress rehearsal in the new Theater on Saturday (April 18) at 8:15 p.m. The invitations to the rehearsal were extended by Lincoln Center to employees of the Theater's general contractor, Turner Construction Company, and the 51 sub-contractors who have worked on the building over the past two years. The New York City Ballet, under the direction of George Balanchine, will be rehearsing "Raymonda Variations," "Agon," and "Western Symphony," all of which will be presented during the ballet's first season in the new Theater, beginning April 24. Mr. Rockefeller, who will speak briefly before the rehearsal begins, will be introduced by Col. William F. Powers, the Center's vice-president for engineering." [2]
