[43/50] Counting down 50 NYCB Nutcrackers this year with stories from NYCB dancers past and present! My Christmas gift to you all is a conversation with Jean-Pierre Frohlich who has been involved with NYCB’s Nutcracker for over 60 of the production’s 70-year history. His memories couldn’t possibly be condensed into an Instagram post so I sat down to interview him this month for a special holiday episode of Immortal Icons of Dance
In this episode, Jean-Pierre Frohlich recalls his first time on stage as Fritz, his three years as the Prince, and the various roles he danced as an adult in the company including Candy Cane and Cavalier. Since 1990, JP has been a ballet master and repertory director at NYCB, coaching the subsequent generations of dancers in the Nutcracker.
