Balanchine was known for his elaborate Easter dinners which took him days to prepare. Although he celebrated Orthodox Easter which is later in the month, I wanted to share this post today. Here is Mr. B with one of his Easter dinners (I spy lilies and eggs) It also felt like a humorous time to share this quote of Balanchine’s that made me crack up when I came across it this week. When asked if he takes advice from other people when working on a new ballet he responded:
“The egg cannot tell the chicken how to lay eggs. I lay my own eggs, nobody can tell me how.”
