NYCB Vol. 2 No. 12 - Swan Lake

(1/10) Today begins NYCB’s run of 12 Swan Lake performances. Balanchine’s version (rather than Martins’) is being mounted for the first time in many years and I’m excited to have the chance to see it. I am also happy that the choreography on stage will align with all the archival photos I’ve been digging through and WOW are there some stunning Swan Lake photos in the @jeromerobbinsdancedivision digital collections! Today I wanted to highlight Jacques in the role of Prince Siegfried.

And you all know that I’m a sucker for a family legacy within NYCB and today is special because Jacques’ d'Amboise's granddaughter, @shelbymann_ , is a new apprentice and will dance in the corps of the same production her grandfather danced beginning in 1951. (Not to mention her grandmother, Carolyn George, and her uncle, Christopher d'Amboise being a former dancers in the company as well!) Merde to Shelby and all involved!

Enjoy these photos, there will be a new batch of photos shared for each of the 12 Swan performances!
