NYCB Vol. 3 No. 33 - Piano Pieces

Piano Pieces was choreographed by Jerome Robbins for the Tchaikovsky Festival in 1981. Prior to that, Robbins had never presented choreography to Tchaikovsky music. The New York Times commented that “festivals make odd bedfellows” by joining choreographers with composers they wouldn’t normally be drawn to. And it was all for the better because at it’s premiere it “sent the public into a cheering ovation.” — Anna Kisselgoff, New York Times, 1981
