“Here they are, outstanding simply because they have been malleable to genius.”
This is how Anna Kisselgoff, described Colleen Neary, Sean Lavery, Adam Lüders and Karin Von Aroldingen after they danced the 4 principal roles in the premiere of Kammermusik No. 2 in 1978, despite them being, as she said, “still too unformed to be considered City Ballet’s most outstanding dancers.”
I love that phrase “outstanding simply because they have been malleable to genius.”
